Where exactly is Landhotel located?
Landhotel is located in Hella (851 Hella), South Iceland, on road nr. 26 — just 10 minutes off
the Ring Road (Route 1). Our GPS coordinates are 63°58'39.8"N 20°15'20.4"W. We are
approximately 90 minutes from Reykjavik and Keflavik International Airport, making us an
ideal base for exploring South Iceland without long daily drives.
Can you see the Northern Lights from Landhotel?
Yes — Landhotel is one of Iceland's best hotels for viewing the Northern Lights. We are
located away from city light pollution in rural South Iceland, with wide open skies in all
directions. We offer a free Northern Lights wake-up call service: if the lights appear at night,
our staff will call your room so you don't miss them. We also have live Northern Lights
webcams on our website.

Landhotel is perfectly positioned for day trips across South Iceland: Seljalandsfoss waterfall
(55 km), Skógafoss waterfall (75 km), Reynisfjara black sand beach (115 km), Laugarás
Lagoon (58 km), Landmannalaugar highland area (90 km), Þjórsárdalur valley (60 km), and
the Sigöldugljúfur "Valley of Tears" canyon (70 km). The Golden Circle — Geysir and
Gullfoss — is also accessible as a full-day excursion.

Does Landhotel have a restaurant?
Yes. We serve breakfast daily 07:00–10:00, lunch 12:00–13:30, and dinner 18:30–21:30.
The dinner menu is à la carte and focuses on locally sourced ingredients from nearby
Icelandic farms and producers. Dinner reservations can be made by emailing
booking@landhotel.is.
Is Landhotel family-friendly?
Yes. We have dedicated Family rooms sleeping up to 5 guests, a gym and play room

What is the best time of year to visit Landhotel?
Landhotel is open year-round. Winter (October–March) is best for Northern Lights viewing.
Summer (June–August) offers near-24-hour daylight and lush green landscapes. Spring and
autumn give fewer crowds with full access to all South Iceland attractions. Each season
offers a completely different experience.
Does Landhotel have wellness facilities?
Yes — we have a wellness area including sauna, hot tub and a gym/play room available to all
guests. After a day exploring South Iceland's landscapes, it is the perfect way to unwind.
Is Landhotel sustainable?
Sustainability is important to us. We source our restaurant food locally from Icelandic farms
and fisheries, and provide on-site EV charging stations for electric vehicle guests. Our
location in rural South Iceland means guests can experience Iceland's natural environment
in a way that respects it.
How do I get to Landhotel from Reykjavik?
Drive east on Route 1 (the Ring Road) from Reykjavik for approximately 80 km. Shortly
before Hella, take the roundabout exit onto road nr. 26. Landhotel is approximately 10 minutes from Route 1. Total drive time from Reykjavik is around 80–90 minutes. Free
parking is available on-site.
