\u00dej\u00f3rs\u00e1rdalur (Thjorsardalur) is a must see nature valley
located in the heart of South Iceland. This beautiful valley is known for its
stunning landscapes, historical sites, and fascinating nature. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

\u00dej\u00f3rs\u00e1rdalur is named after the river \u00dej\u00f3rs\u00e1, the longest
river in Iceland, which runs through the valley.\u00a0 The origin of the river comes from Hofsj\u00f6kull
glacier which is a landmark in the area.<\/p>

There are two waterfalls in \u00dej\u00f3rs\u00e1rdalur which are stunningly<\/span><\/p>

located side by side and it is a worth taking hike to see both those
waterfalls. Those waterfalls are H\u00e1ifoss and Granni.\u00a0 H\u00e1ifoss is one of the tallest waterfalls in Iceland
with a drop of 122 meters, and its neighbour Granni is slightly smaller but
impressive about 101 meters high.<\/p>

To reach those waterfalls you must drive short distance on a
gravel road with is quite accessible during the summer months but can be a
challenge during winter due to snow and ice.\u00a0
A short distance from the parking area there is a viewing point for both
those waterfalls with a breathtaking views of them and the natural
surroundings.<\/p>

Another \u201cmust see\u201d landmark is the Gj\u00e1in, which is such a mindful place.\u00a0 This small valley is filled with natural Icelandic plants, mosses and wildflowers and small waterfall in a picturesque setting.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In \u00dej\u00f3rs\u00e1rdalur are also very interesting historical sites named\u00a0<\/span>St\u00f6ng and \u00dej\u00f3\u00f0veldisb\u00e6rinn.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

St\u00f6ng is an excavated longhouse from the Viking age and was
indeed buried under volcanic ash from the eruption of Hekla in 1104.\u00a0 The site gives you a glimpse of early life
and architecture from the old Iceland.<\/p>

\u00dej\u00f3\u00f0veldisb\u00e6rinn is a reconstructed farm from the Viking era
based from St\u00f6ng.\u00a0 There is a open-air
museum and visitors can learn about the life of medieval Icelandic people.<\/p>
