Gullfoss, Geysir, and Friðheimar

A day tour from Landhotel that includes Gullfoss, Geysir, and Friðheimar offers an adventurous day mixed of Icelandic natural wonders and unique cultural experiences. These attractions are part of the popular Golden Circle route, making them easily accessible in a single day tour from Landhotel. The route takes visitors through some of Iceland’s most iconic landscapes and introduces them to geothermal activity, powerful waterfalls, and sustainable tomato farming practices.

Gullfoss (Golden Falls)

Gullfoss is one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls, renowned for its impressive two-tiered cascade and powerful flow. The waterfall is located in the Hvítá river canyon and is a spectacular sight in any season even during the winter it is fascinating to see such waterfall in its frozen state.

At Gullfoss visitors have multiple viewing platforms to see the waterfall from different angles. The path leading down to the lower viewing area provides a close-up view of the waterfalls where you actually stand in the mist of the falls, while the upper platform offers a panoramic perspective.

On sunny days, the mist from the falls often creates vivid rainbows, enhancing the already stunning scenery. The sheer power and beauty of Gullfoss makes you really at awe.

Geysir Geothermal Area

The Geysir geothermal area is home to the original geyser, Geysir, as well as the active Strokkur geyser, which erupts approximately every 5-10 minutes, shooting boiling water up to 20-30 meters into the air.

At Geysir visitors can walk around the geothermal area to see various hot springs, fumaroles, and mud pots. Watching Strokkur erupt is a thrilling experience and a true moment for photographers.

The geothermal landscape is otherworldly, with steam rising from the ground and the smell of sulfur in the air. The area offers educational information about geothermal activity and the history of Geysir.

Friðheimar Tomato Farm

Friðheimar is a family-run greenhouse farm specializing in the cultivation of tomatoes using sustainable geothermal energy. The farm offers a unique glimpse into Icelandic horticulture and sustainable farming practices.

At Friðheimar visitors can tour the greenhouse to learn about the innovative growing techniques and geothermal energy use. The highlight is dining in the greenhouse restaurant, where you can enjoy a meal surrounded by tomato plants or visit their newly built bar restaurant where you can sit outside on a nice summer day in a beautiful cultural setting feasting on their local delicacies.
